Project 3: Light
Project Statement
This project wants us to transform the form of the building by using the natural light from the sun. The windows in the rooms and chapels have to create a pleasant environment to work and give ceremony's in the building.
You have been selected to design a proposed non-denominational chapel located on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale. The College wants this to be a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on life’s events. The College believes this can be achieved by the creative use of light. The College has outlined a preliminary program that is listed below. A site has yet to selected on campus; the College is looking for guidance from the Architect. The building should be integrated into the fabric of the campus. The College explicitly requests the design not be symmetrical.

Site Selection
My site selection is based on my contextual analysis. I placed it where it could close a space already formed by other buildings, and where it could be accessed easily from the main circulation paths.
Narrative
Farmingdale State College wants to build a chapel based on light. Each chapel will catch most part of the light from one direction. The main chapel will be the most important room of the building therefore it will catch light from the south, the memorial chapel will catch light from the east and the meditation chapel from the west. The office part of the building doesn't need to have a system to catch light.
